The Fan (TKO's Theory)
Everything that symbolizes
a lavish Copperfield illusion - A beautiful woman, lots of smoke, lots
of wind blowing in his hair, and Einstein's theory of relativety (E=mc2).
What happens in this illusion is that when David and the assistant "pass"
through the fan, they don't just magically disappear and reappear in the
middle of the audience. What happens at that moment is that they actually
move at the speed of light to the middle of the audience. Since light travels
faster than the speed at which human sight can track an object in motion,
nobody is able to see this happening. How is that possible? Here's the
explanation:
E = mc2 can be re-written as E/m=c2
(energy divided by mass equals to the sqaure of the speed of light).
Now, everyone knows that the speed of light (c) is incredibly fast, and that the
mass of David and his assistant (m) is a contant number. So, in order for Eistein's
equation to work, it requires an incredibly amount of energy (E). Where do they
get that energy? ...you actually think the industrial size fan is used for wind
effects?
When they are on the platform and the blinds are pulled down, that fan is
turning at full speed, generating an incredible amount of energy. In fact, it
generates so much energy, that at the exact moment when David and the assistant
reach warp speed, all the lights on that platform get blown-out (hence all the
sparks and explosions). After that, the fan slows down, and David and his
assistant appears in the audience, everyone claps, and all is well.
