Ok, this theory has actually been circulating around the web for some time now....
 See, what happens is that David created a huge glass tank that covers the entire stage,
and fills it to the top with water. From there, the illusion is nothing but David swimming
around in that tank of water, choreographed to the soundtrack of East of Eden.
All the clothes that David and his assistants were wearing were treated by soaking in Rain-X,
so that water will not stick to the fabric or be absorbed. When they exit the tank, the water
simply beads and rolls off, keeping their clothes dry.
The really hard part was teaching Icarus to swim underwater. Supposedly it took 3 birds
before they were able to accomplish that. They drowned, not when swimming in the tank, but
when they were bathed in Rain-X to protect their feathers from the water. Let's bow our
heads in a moment of silence for the first 2 birds who bravely sacrificed themselves for the
art of magic....
