Portal (TKO's Theory)
PREFACE:
Gene Roddenberry wasn't crazy when he created the world of Star Trek. He consulted
the top scientists in the world to see what the latest technologies were, then extended
on them and gave us a glimpse of what technology would be like in the future. NASA
even helped in the design of the starship U.S.S. Enterprise to make it aerodynamically
plausible to travel in warp speed.
Well, the magic industry has always been a leader in technology as well, allowing
performers to let the audience see what is NOT there, as well as not seeing what IS there.
And it is when the best in magic (David Copperfield) gets combined with the best in
technology (Particle Transporters) do we get truly amazing results.
The Island illusion was designed together with top scientists from MIT,
and is the first working prototype of the Transporter device seen in the hit TV series,
Star Trek. The device itself is a circular pad approximately 24" in diameter. One was
built into that platform that streches out into the audience, and another was placed
whereever they need to go (Hawaii, Hoover Dam, Bali, etc). The pads, once activated, will
break down whatever is on the source pad down to a molecular level, then sends the
configuration information to the destination pad, where the molecular info will be
reconstructed. I will spare you the technical details on how this is accomplished, but
if you search hard enough, you can find the patent documentations for the transporters
on the web.
